Welcome to the Glossop Sport Website.

The website has been developed by members of Glossopdale Sport and Recreation Forum; a community group of sports clubs and community leisure facilities in the area. The forum have the collective aim of providing high quality sport and physical activity to the residents of Glossop and the surrounding area.

The aim of the website is to provide an information portal for local people to find out about sport and physical activities in the Glossop area.

Sports Clubs provide organised activities at recreational and competitive levels. Each sports club listed here provides basic information of what they offer highlighting age groups, days/times and unique information about that club. You can contact the club direct from the website using the email icons, visit the individual club website, contact the club official or via Facebook and Twitter links.

Sports Facilities provide a mixture of sports and fitness activities and are the base for many sports clubs as well as offering regular recreational health, fitness and sport sessions open to the public.

The Events section lists one off sport or physical activities that are based in Glossop and the surrounding area which may be of interest to local individuals, families, businesses to take part in.

Click on the Health and Fitness section to find information on classes in the area.

  What is Club Mark?

Sport England recognises and values the commitment made by sports clubs to develop high quality, welcoming environments for young participants. The development of clubs that encourage young people to take-up sport, improve their talents, possibly play a leadership role and give them the option to initiate and maintain life-long participation in sport is an essential part of supporting the sporting infrastructure in England.

Clubmark was introduced in 2002 by Sport England to:

  • Ensure that consistent good practice and minimum operating standards are delivered throughout the club
  • To empower parent(s)/carer(s) when choosing a club for their children.
  • To ensure that Clubmark accredited clubs are recognised through a common approach to branding.
  • To provide a focus around which all organisations involved in sport can come together to support good practice in sports clubs working with children and young people.
  •
